Boart Longyear Wins Safety Award from Canadian Diamond Drill Association

SALT LAKE CITY — November 10th, 2014 — Boart Longyear (www.BoartLongyear.com), leading global supplier of drilling services, drilling equipment and performance tooling, has been awarded a 2014 Quarterly Safety Achievement Award by the Canadian Diamond Drill Association (CDDA).

The CDDA selects just one recipient of the prestigious award each quarter based on the lowest nation-wide injury rates for crews that have collectively worked more than 100,000 hours. The records are kept by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board.

“Boart Longyear’s crews in Canada have worked more than 100,000 hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI) during the second quarter of 2014,”said Louise Lowe, CDDA manager.

“This is a significant achievement. Boart Longyear has demonstrated outstanding commitment and leadership in health and safety,” she added.

“We are pleased to accept this award on behalf of each and every one of the Boart Longyear drillers who made this safety achievement possible,” said James Chalmers, vice president, environment, health and safety for Boart Longyear.

The CDDA also commended Boart Longyear’s new global safety campaign “Make it Safe. Make it Personal. Make it Home.”

“At Boart Longyear, “Safety First” is a core value. Fostering a culture that emphasizes why we work safely is more than just a safety program – it’s the way we strive to work every day,” Chalmers added.

Boart Longyear officially received the award on October 30th, 2014 at the CDDA’s Eastern Safety Group Meeting. An overall 2014 winner will be announced at the CDDA’s Annual General Meeting later this year.
