Over the years, Boart Longyear™ has introduced some of the most advanced coring bit technology on the market. Our diamond products were originally developed in the 1930's, which led to the commercial development of practical and reliable diamond coring bits manufacturing. From our conventional surface set bits to the revolutionary Stage™ diamond impregnated bit, we continue to set the standard in diamond coring technology.

Custom Bit Info
Experience has proven that some ground conditions require custom bits. Boart Longyear engineers are available to help quickly solve site-specific problems which would otherwise cost time and money. Common design modifications include thread type, OD size, crown profiles for surface set bits, and other custom solutions for special rock conditions.

GTUMXTM Diamond Bits
The GTUMX Diamond Bit is designed for shallow holes and conventional drilling, and to be used in exploration and geo technical applications.
Surface Set Bits
Surface set bits are typically used in softer formations. Traditionally, they utilize a single layer of natural diamonds set in a hard matrix and can be manufactured in many crown profiles.
The TSD bit is used for fast penetration in soft/medium rock formations. TSDs are a cost effective alternative for large stone surface set bits.
PCD bits are made for cutting softer formations
at high penetration rates. They typically have round PCD cutters that can be replaced, extending the life of the bit.
Carbide Chip Bits
The carbide chip bit is a general purpose bit for geo-technical applications used primarily in soft formations. This is a cost-effective alternative to carbide tooth bits.
Directional and Wedging Bits
Directional bits are used with down hole motors to steer the drill string in different directions. Wedging bits are made to follow wedges set in the bore hole with the intention of altering the hole direction.
Boart LongyearTM casing shoes are heavy-duty products that can match up to the toughest formations and hold in very abrasive, fractured formations.

Impreg Diamond Bits
The impregnated diamond bit is used for cutting holes in medium to ultra-hard formations, and a full array of design variations is available to maximize drill life and penetration.
