Safety starts with acknowledging, planning for, and mitigating risk the lower the risk, the fewer accidents occur. Boart Longyear™ has developed extensive safety training programs beginning with new hires and extending to ongoing training for even the most seasoned drillers. These programs keep safety at the forefront, and keep our drillers informed on the latest safety issues. Golden Rules of Safety, Stop Work Authority and Rules of the Road are just three programs allowing drill crews to maximize their productivity in a safe environment.
Rules of the Road
1. You must be authorized to drive
2. Understand the risks of the journey
3. Do NOT drive while impaired
4. Ensure vehicle is safe to operate and road worthy
5. Identify hazards before moving the vehicle
6. Wear seat belts at all times
7. Obey posted speed limits
8. Secure your vehicle when parked
Golden Rules of Safety
1. Stop any unsafe activity immediately
2. You must be fit to do the job
3. Conduct a risk assessment before starting any activity
4. Use the correct tools and safety equipment for the job
5. Maintain a safe body position at all times
6. Ensure no contact with any source of energy or a hazardous
substance
