Salt Lake City Manufacturing Team Receives Safety Award

The Boart Longyear Salt Lake City Manufacturing team received a safety award for Safety Excellence in the Workplace at the Utah Safety Council's Awards Program and Luncheon held on August 26, 2011. This is Utah’s largest safety recognition program that honors organizations for safety excellence.

Utah Safety Council’s Safety Awards are given to reward quality in occupational safety and health programs as measured by outstanding safety performance. Organizations are recognized for improvements in lost time and total case incidence rates and/or maintaining rates that are consistently below the average for their industry as benchmarked against national averages compiled by the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. In addition to extremely stringent performance requirements, applicants for these awards must have functioning safety programs that include a formal written safety and health plan, emergency plans, safety inspections, and safety training and employee safety committees.
