LM30 Drill Rig

Boart Longyear has developed easy to operate and competitively priced drills. Many components come from the stable of well know reliable LM Drill Range. The two new models are designed to use the conventional LTK 48 or LTK 60 coring systems. Wireline capabilities are not available with either option. Pricing also will include a new, specifically designed 712 water pump that is hydraulically controlled from the control panel. A new direct coupled feed frame designed around the durable 700 series feed frame is also used. In standard configuration it will have a 1.1 metre stroke and an operating length of 2.6 metres. Push / pull force of approx 30kN (3000 kg) will ensure that rated depth capacity is not difficult to reach. The rotation unit and rod holder are the current BQ units borrowed from the LM 45 product range.

Skid Steer Drill Rig (LM30)

This drill uses a Case XT 40 Skid Steer carrier to transport the feed frame and water pump. This mobility ensures quick set up time and ease of moving from site to site. This is powered by a 45 kW (60 HP) Case 4 cylinder diesel engine. This also provides the hydraulic power to run the rotation unit, direct coupled feed frame, integral water pump and feed tilt. Water or air cooling is used to cool the hydraulics.

  • Prime mover CASE XT40 (This is the latest release from Case) and is fitted with ROPS/FOPS canopy. Overall dimensions of the carrier are approximately 1.4 metres wide and 3.5 metres long.
    • Direct drive feedframe fitted with regenerative circuit to enable conventional rod handling speed similar to chain drive (0.62 m/sec). The direct-coupled feed frame considerably reduces maintenance requirements when compared to chains.
    • Capable of drilling LTK48 – 60. Designed for rapid rod handling
    • 1.1 metre stroke
      • Feed Force Push 30kN
      • Feed Force Pull 30kN
      • Length 2200 metres (2600 metres with cylinder guard in place for operating)
    • Mechanical positioner slew angle from forward position ± 90 deg
      • Hydraulic range of movement from horizontal 10 deg up to 90 deg down, or +/- 50 deg (depending on feed tilt configuration)
      • Rotating feedframe 180 deg. on the cradle will allow a range of movement of ± 90 deg form horizontal.
    • Hydraulic powered LM30 (712) water pump.
    • Utilizing polyethylene control panel enclosure developed for the LMH110, control panel assembly mounted on an adjustable swing arm. This provides flexible positioning of the control for ease of single person operation.
    • PLC control system (including EPROM protection) ensures reliability and reduces the weight (and cost) or the hydraulic logic.
    • Solenoid operated valves
    • Synchronised rod handling when rod feeding and pulling
    • Water cooled
