Calgary Rotary Achieves 1M Man Hours LTI Free
On February 19, 2012 the Calgary Rotary Zone achieved a significant safety milestone by completing 1,000,000 Hours worked without a Lost Time Incident (LTI). This significant milestone translates into 1,221 days worked without a LTI.
The zone attributes their success of reaching this milestone to:
Senior management’s dedication to providing and promoting a safe
workplace, no exceptions.
Rig Supervisors and Project Managers commitment to safety.
Safety as an integral part of all operations, not just a convenient add
on.
Rig Supervisors’ and Project Managers’ commitment to ensuring
their rigs and projects are operating according to all BLY safety
policies and procedures.
Ensuring all workers are properly trained in performing their assigned
tasks safely.
Safety indoctrinations to all new hires from their first day of training.
The Operations Manager, commented, “People are our most important and valued asset”.
During a recent meeting, the mine representatives commented, “impressive, that is great”.
To continue the journey to zero incidents, future focus will center on the same principles that have steered the zone in accomplishing this significant milestone, with an increased emphasis on training, communications and ensuring competencies for all workers.
The Rotary Zone Manager said, “This accomplishment has not been the efforts of one person or group. This significant milestone has been a team effort from all members of the Calgary Rotary Zone and will continue to be a team effort.”
