Appointment of New Director

image_galleryRoy FranklinBoart Longyear Limited (ASX: BLY) today announces the appointment of Roy Alexander Franklin, OBE, as a director of the Company effective 15 October 2010.

Mr. Franklin is currently Chairman of the Board for Keller Group PLC (London Stock Exchange) and a director of Santos Ltd (ASX) and Statoil ASA (Oslo Stock Exchange). He previously held directorships on a number of other corporate boards, including International Energy Group, and Novera Energy.

Mr. Franklin also served as chief executive of Paladin Resources from 1997 to 2006 and Clyde Petroleum from 1991 to 1997 and held a number of executive roles with British Petroleum earlier in his career. Mr. Franklin is based out of England and received his Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of South Hampton.
