“The LS™250 MiniSonic™ rig has wide tracks for increased maneuverability yet has low ground pressure for safer access to fragile terrains.”

“With its compact footprint, the LS™250 MiniSonic™ rig is perfect for smaller drill pads and can fit in a shipping container.

Groundwater Week is hosted annually by the National Ground Water Association (NGWA), attracting professionals from all sectors of the groundwater industry, including water well drilling contractors, pump installers, scientists, researchers, engineers, equipment manufacturers, and suppliers. This year’s exhibition will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Las Vegas Convention Center on December 5-6, 2018.

Boart Longyear is planning an impressive presence at the show bringing its highly productive LS™250 sonic drill rig to be displayed in booth number 763. The company was the first U.S. firm to utilize sonic equipment for environmental drilling with this technology now being used in a wide variety of soft ground and shallow drilling applications. Sonic drilling is shown to be faster, with less than one percent drill deviation, and is more accurate than conventional overburden drilling. It also creates more efficient penetration, reducing waste up to 80% and resulting in maximum core recovery.

“This is the perfect rig for a wide variety of drilling projects.”

The LS250 rig features the MiniSonic™ head, making this rig part of the third generation of sonic rigs that utilize this patented Boart Longyear™ technology. After incorporating over 20 years of driller experience and refinement gained from use in its Drilling Services operations, the LS250 became the first MiniSonic rig the company has offered for outside capital equipment sales. This sonic rig technology has now been successfully used in the field for more than three generations and in a number of countries. The LS250 is CE-certified to conform to Europe’s strict health, safety, and environmental standards. The rig is versatile and with the lowest ground pressure in its class can carefully access fragile terrains and hard-to-reach drill sites.

“This is the perfect rig for a wide variety of drilling projects,” said Fred Hafner, Sonic Drilling Specialist for Boart Longyear. “We see our clients using the LS250 rig for sonic drilling in all sorts of environmental, geotechnical, dewatering, geoconstruction, and mining activities.”

Mr. Hafner will be joined by several sonic drilling experts at Boart Longyear’s booth number 763 during Groundwater Week’s exhibition. Attendees will be able to ask questions, see the LS250 MiniSonic rig up close, kick the tracks, and gain a better understanding of sonic technology.

“Once my clients see the advantages gained by using sonic drilling technology, they are excited about bringing a sonic rig into their fleet,” said Mike Lawhead, Sonic Sales Representative for the Northeastern U.S. “Demand is great and continuing to grow. The LS250 rig we are showing at Groundwater Week is already under contract ready to ship to Associated Environmental Services – a drilling and boring company based out of New York.”
