Boart Longyear Western Australian Crew Celebrates 6 Years LTI-Free At Western Areas Forrestania

SALT LAKE CITY — November 3, 2014 — Boart Longyear (www.BoartLongyear.com) recently celebrated six years with no lost time incidents (LTI) at the Western Areas Forrestania nickel mine project in Western Australia.

Boart Longyear drilling services crews provide greenfield, brownfield and resource drilling, including directional drilling, at the prosperous nickel mine. To celebrate the important milestone, Western Areas sponsored a barbeque attended by General Manager of Exploration Charles Wilkinson and Senior Project Geologist Andrew Van Bentum.

“Western Areas is pleased to be able to mark this significant achievement of six years of LTI- free performance by the Boart Longyear drilling team at our Forrestania operation,” Wilkinson said. “The Forrestania Nickel Operations forms a major basis of our company’s activities, including the exploration activities of which Boart Longyear drilling services crews are a part. The milestone is a testament to the commitment to safety of both organisations, as well as our long-lived, close working partnership.”

Wilkinson added, “In an industry where activities are often undertaken in challenging conditions, the long period of incident free status is a significant accomplishment. We look forward to being able to commemorate further achievements of this nature in the future.”
